Bobby and Tim Waller welcome you to Kangaroo Island Seaview Motel
Hello,
We look forward to welcoming you as our guests when you visit Kangaroo Island. We are 'locals' and have an intimate understanding of Kangaroo Island, with a desire to help you enjoy your visit to our beautiful island.
Our small and dedicated team of staff help us in this endeavour. Together we can look after you, from making your air or ferry bookings from Adelaide, providing a clean and comfortable room, arranging tours, a hire car or other activities for you.
Kangaroo Island is a destination for all seasons. The busiest tourist months are from September to April, but because Kangaroo Island is such a large island, visitors can still feel like they are in a wilderness area.
Seasonal Highlights:
Winter - June to August
The greenest months. Because South Australia is the driest state in Australia, Kangaroo Island has a typically low rainfall. Most of our rain falls during these months, greening the countryside and stimulating the early wildflowers into bloom.
Penguins are at their most active during this time, busily nesting and breeding. With nests along the foreshore in front of Seaview, their calls can be heard from Seaview's verandahs.
Being an island, our winter minimum temperatures tend to be warmer than those of Adelaide.
Spring - September to November
Possibly the most beautiful months for bushwalks and sightseeing. Most of the wildflowers are in bloom, it is warming up and the days are getting longer.
Summer - December to February
Typically time for the beach and water sports. Apart from the occasional summer thunderstorm, our warmest and driest months. Long summer days, lots of beaches where you could be the only ones there, good chance of catching some fish - Kangaroo Island's famous King George whiting.
Ideal time for birdwatching, particularly water birds by the lagoons, and wedge-tail eagles soaring above the scrublands.
Autumn - March to May
Still quite summery but without the hot days. Ideal days for just about any activity. Clear nights great for star gazing. Penguins returning to their nests and resuming courting and egg-laying.
